Quote of the Week

"Some women choose to follow men, and some women choose to follow their dreams. If you're wondering which way to go, remember that your dreams will never wake up and tell you that they don't love you anymore." - Lady Gaga

Baby, baby, baby, NO!

Let's take a look at music, shall we?
Go back in time a bit. We've had the silky voices in jazz, like Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra. The British pop invasion of The Beatles and later on again in the 90s with Oasis. Then, there was the70s-80s music period with Bon Jovi, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, ACDC, etc. Billy Joel and Elton John. The 90s brought Green Day, Blink-182, and Nirvana. Music was all pretty decent from the 60s on, right?
Yes. HECK yes.
But then, something terrible happened about...say...mid- to late-90s.
KIDDIE POP.
We had *NSYNC, The Backstreet Boys, and Brittney Spears. That techno-bubble gum-pop that kids ages 8-14 gobble up. Years went on to introduce the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana. Now, our generation has a full-on case of the Bieber fever! What is happening??
There's something about pop music today that just isn't right. You can't even tell anymore who's real and who's autotuned. It's all the same. The songs are all alike with their upbeat tempo, happy mood, and electronic enhancing. It doesn't make any sense. Everything's fake anymore.
I like bands like Green Day and Blink-182. Never Shout Never and Death Cab for Cutie. I hate how they're so amazing but when you turn on the radio, all you hear is Party in the U.S.A.
WHY?
It bugs me that real bands with real music and no autotuning go unnoticed.
Why has music changed so drastically? Just wonderin'...

Deja Vu

I know I've posted about dreams on here before, but I'm going to do it again. Dreams are awesome!
So, have you ever had one of those dreams where it predicts something that ends up happening later on in the future? I have, and it is CREEPY.
I wonder how that happens. Are we all born with a little bit of superpowers? I hope so! Talk about sweet! But still, how does that work? You're unconscious, you're dreaming, something happens in your dream, and then it happens in real life.
It sounds like a fantasy novel, but it's real.
Like, for instance, I had a dream a girl in my Health class was having a full-on temper tantrum and my teacher snapped at her. Nothing too out there, but that week, that same exact thing happened. Same people, same class, everything. I sat there and thought how crazy it all was.
Then, there was the dream about going downtown. I woke up and got a call asking me if I wanted to go downtown with the same person I went downtown with in my dream! And my whole day matched up with the dream!
Then, there's those random moments where you freeze and think, "I swear, this has happened before."
So how does this happen? Are we all having subconscious premonitions? Just wonderin'...

Drama Llamas

Does anyone besides me wonder what it is about teenagers that makes them addicted to drama? I mean seriously.
If you are in or have been to high school, you know exactly what I'm talking about. You've got guy drama and girl drama and people of our age group eat, sleep, and breathe it.
Guy drama doesn't consist of much. It's either a) We're mad, so let's go fight, or b) Did you just look at my girl!??!? Come on. You know it's true. Girl stuff causes a lot of guy drama.
Then, there's girl drama.
Oh. My. Gosh.
It can be anything anymore, which worries me. Arguments, gossip (the he-said she-said stuff), boyfriend drama, clique drama, fashion drama, the occasional fight...it's endless.
But why?!?!
Drama in high school is SO bad. I don't get it. These are supposed to be the best yearss of our lives- why can't we enjoy it and just get along? Would you rather have a group of friends or a group of enemies when you graduate? What would you like to remember when you look back on your teen years?
Some people even go out of their way just to get drama started. It's like they get a high off of it, or something.
It's always out there-the drama-no matter how old you are, but why teenagers? Why does it seem to circulate around our age group? Just wonderin'...

Going $Green$

I've been wondering about something for a while now, and I have a point, here.
If people want everyone to go green with environmentally friendly things- I am one of these people- how come everything that can help our environment has a ridiculous price on it?
Think about it. Hybrid cars are outrageously priced. So is solar panneling. Not to mention organic foods, things packaged with Earth-friendly material or less plastic, clothing and bags made with Earth-friendly material, energy efficient light bulbs...all of these things cost more than normal products.
Why?
If we want to save our Earth, and I'd like to do that very much, then why are product that could help so out of reach?
My World Studies teacher put it this way. Foods that are good for you cost more than junk food. Organic fruits and veggies and all of that health food costs almost double what a bag of chips or pack of pop would. Why are people out of shape? Because junk food is easier to get access to. It's the same way.
So, hey. If anyone out there can produce a cheap car that runs on water? I'd love you forever. I turn sixteen this year.
So, why does caring for our environment have to be so out of reach- and why should it be something you have to afford? Just wonderin'...

I've Always Wanted To...

At my school, the Business Communications class films a 15 minute show based on events going on around the school, news, and interviewing students. It can get a little annoying sometimes, I must admit. Especially since it's aired for four periods in a row- 5A (my homeroom), 5B (my lunch), 6A, and 6B. But today, they had a topic that's got me wondering.
Bucket lists.
At first, that sounds kind of dark to think about, doesn't it? Death? Talking about what to do before you die makes it sound like you're going to die soon.
But then again, it makes you think a little.
Who knows how much time we have?
We should all live our lives to the fullest! Do what you want, say what needs to be said. Let people know you care about them. Be there for your friends. Do the right thing. You know. Make sure your life is something you'd look back on and not regret.
That reminds me of a Billie Joe Armstrong quote-    “It's better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.”
So, yeah. Bucket lists can be pretty cool. Acheiving your dreams!
So, I came up with a little list. I'd like to see the Northern Lights.
Kiss someone on New Year's Eve.
See the coral reef.
Surf.
Make a wish in the Trevy Fountain.
Volunteer at an animal shelter.
Leave a flower on every grave in a cemetery so no one is forgotten.
Donate my hair to Locks of Love.
Clean off animals involved in an oil spill.
Publish a book.
Hug a penguin.
Sing at a karaoke bar.
Skip rocks.
My list is huge!
So, bucket lists-even though they make you think of death, they also make you think of your dreams, right? Just wonderin'...
